This was cute, and the humor was weird in a very good way. A family that is emotionally repressed and stoic has one very strange funeral for their mutually despised family matriarch. In the meantime two men take a chance on love, but is it real? Overall, I loved the characters and the humor. The quickly developed romance was wonderfully executed. It fits right in to the Petit Morts series. I'll be checking out more of this author's books!Product details

Good short story in a very enjoyable series. The MCs are cute and the story has a nice whimsicality to it brought on by chocolate -)
I've read most stories in this series and highly recommend them - they are funny, sweet, and generally feel good stories. Enjoy!
When Jason Harvey got his psychology degree he didn't expect to be a grief counselor at a funeral home, but he's stuck with the stiffs and their sometimes difficult family members now. Jason doesn't hit it off it off with Adele Conway as she plans her mother's funeral so Adele foists her nephew Frederick on him. This, combined with some of the chocolates from Sweet to the Sweet, turns out to be by far the best thing that happens to Jason working in the Newlin Funeral Parlour.
Chance and his chocolates are beautiful, tasty, and full of voodoo magic! They turn the most sedate, morose event into a free for all complete with closet sex and overturned pews in One Less Stiff at the Funeral. Jason needed a little push in the right direction to get him into Fred's arms. Fred didn't need it, but he certainly took advantage of the chocolate mood enhancer. Fred and Jason are compatible guys who share some sweet and spicy moments. Sean Kennedy pens another entertaining story that makes the unusual and improbable seem plausible. One Less Stiff at the Funeral is a little outrageous, a lot of fun, and sexy and romantic too.

What I liked the most of this novella was the fact that Fred, Jason's love interest, is not some hunky, fall in love at first sight type of guy, but he is instead a sweet and kind guy, with slight paunch and a "koala" resemblance. All of this is even more empathized if you think he is in comparison with chocolatier Chance, who is basically a sex god.
Nor Jason or Fred are extraordinary guys; Jason is a psychology graduated who ended up working in a funeral parlor, not exactly his dream job and totally not a sexy one. Jason is a good guy, but truth be told he is average. When he meets Chance, he of course finds the guy extremely sexy, but like you can admire something in a window well knowing you are not buying it. But with Fred is entirely a different story, and when Chance himself flirts with Fred, Jason is jealous of Fred, not of Chance. Deep down Jason knows Fred can be his right match, and he doesn't want someone like Chance to pouch on his pond.
What I probably regret more of this series, is that all stories have wonderful characters, but we have only a glimpse in their lives. Sometime I'd love to have the chance to spend more time with them.
