From Fangoria, America's number-one source for horror.
"A Fungus Among Us" by Steve Nubie A mysterious fungus is causing people to act like zombies before their heads explode and spore - like snakes ooze out of their brains!
"Wolf" by Max Allan Collins A modern-day werewolf whose appetite for beautiful young women vacationing at a lodge retreat has guests and workers panic-stricken.
"The Late Shift" by Dennis Etchison A company takes flesh-peddling to a whole new level.
"Reincarnal" by Max Allan Collins A young woman may be the reincarnated victim of a serial killer on the loose.
"A Good Head on His Shoulders" by Max Allan Collins In Chicago, in the early thirties, gang wars are an everyday occurrence. Mobster Louie Carboni is used to such violence. But what can the hideous decapitation murders of seven college professors, courtesy of a maniac dubbed the Mangler, have to do with the mob?
"A Heated Premonition" by Carl Amari and M.J. Elliott Based on the famous short story "August Heat" by W.F. Harvey, it's the story of two men whose glimpses, each of the other's possible future, lead them to a strange and paralyzing standoff.
Hosted by Malcolm McDowell and commissioned by Fangoria, these original short stories are fully dramatized to thrill and chill you!

A note on included stories: at least for the Audible version "A Good Head on His Shoulders" does not appear. In its place is "Living Space" a tale of apartment hunters getting much more than they bargained for. I disagree with the other commenter on "Wolf"--the sexuality is vital to the story and is built up throughout the dramatization. Overall, it's a fun radio drama-styled experience, and is a great companion piece to the SET TFTC work.Product details

Fangoria Dreadtime Stories Volume One Dramatized (Audible Audio Edition) Steve Nubie Max Allan Collins Dennis Etchison Matthew Elliott Malcolm McDowell Inc Blackstone Audio Books Reviews
You can run but you can't hide it's far too late for that. Welcome to the dark side, where the night never ends, as Fangoria presents Dreadtime Stories, with your host Malcolm McDowell.
Okay horror lovers, this is the one you've been waiting for. In the best traditions of classic shows like The Twilight Zone, Tales From the Darkside, and Shock Theater comes Fangoria's Dreadtime Stories. For those of you who may not know, Fangoria is a fan magazine specializing in horror films. These tales will scare, repulse, terrify, shock, and, occasionally, amuse you. There's a little bit of everything here classic monsters like the werewolf, psychological thrillers, and zombies.
Fangoria's host, Malcolm McDowell, was the perfect choice for Dreadtime Stories. His voice, as you probably already know, is kind of deep and gravelly and works very well for this format. Vincent Pryce, eat your heart out. McDowell's role was, unfortunately, rather limited as he only did the story intros, interludes, and closings. The stories themselves are acted out by a full cast of voice actors and also feature creepy music and sound effects. Overall, the production quality is very good.
There was one thing that bothered me about this collection, and I feel it only fair to warn others who may feel the same. The story Wolf contains a rather explicit sex scene between an older man and a fifteen-year-old girl. The scene had nothing at all to do with the story and I'm still baffled as to why it was included, but I truly wish they had left it out.
I loved these stories, all with complete sound effects and hosted by Malcolm McDowell. Each one is totally different and really great. If you like good storytelling, you will love this CD. It has a complete cast and definitely makes for a couple listens. I can't wait to pull this out around Halloween!!!
